{vegh} means to go through an opening of some sort (open door, tunnel
etc) ; not even "go through" a forest.

your sentences could be expressed as :

because of hard work we succeeded / because we worked hard we succeeded
in order to build the table we used a hammer
because we negotiated we prevented war

the general advice would be, to try an substitute as many nouns as
possible, by using verbs. don't focus on trying to translate the exact
english words to klingon ; try rather expressing the meaning in
klingon.
