I'm having some trouble here. The last thing 
'avtanDIl said was «vaj Du'IQmoHpu'bogh wanI', 
DuQuchqa'moHlaHbogh mIw je HIjatlh.» So I'm 
expecting an answer from tIna'tIn, but I 
interpret that as 'avtanDIl speaking. i.e.

Avtandil did not use perfectly chosen flowery 
words when he answered. He said, "I well know 
that you are very far from me, but for a mere 
second I also wondered if you would not be 
willing to answer. But as for the event that has 
affected me, that has almost made me ill, now I must tell you."

But it makes no sense having 'avtanDIl say that. 
You must have meant tIna'tIn, and there's no 
close quote before the next paragraph, so that 
must be the same speaker, and that has to be 
tIna'tIn. Did I miss a speech by 'avtanDIl?

I became prey for thoughts about 
him?  Damn...that's a long slow trek for me from 
there to "Thoughts of him preyed on me."  I don't 
know that I would have got there without going 
through English, where the verb and noun prey 
happen to be the same.  If you really like it, 
keep it, but I would prefer the thoughts be the 
subject of an active verb, yIv or HIv or ghoch perhaps.

Ahh, even if the sun himself were to manifest as 
a mortal man, let her forever be denied entrance

... if she marries him. The grammar doesn't quite 
make it explicit, but I can follow. And I guess 
this is what you were talking about earlier. When 
I have to translate to understand that's a bit of a stumble.
