The difference may be that although jitneys (sometimes called service taxis) usually travel a fixed route, a taxi cab will go wherever you tell (i.e. {ra'} "command") the driver to go.

TalkNow also has {lupwI' mIr} "train" - i.e. a chain of {lupwI'mey} - which makes me think that a {lupwI'} might well be closer in size to a tram or trolley car than an automobile.

The old-timers might recall that the old KEVE - the KLI's "Klingon Educational Virtual Environment" MUSH - used *{lengbogh pa'} for "elevator, turbolift".  This was probably modelled on {tojbogh pa'} "holodeck".
