(HQ 4.4:11 "Groups"): Some additional information has come to light regarding words relating to groups or assemblies. Among those words already well-known for different types of groups are: {boq} alliance (also bloc or coalition, though coalition is sometimes {boq ru'}, literally "temporary alliance"); {DIvI'} federation or organization (also association, league, union); {ghom} group or party (also band, in the nonmusical sense) ... (also {ghom'a'}) crowd. Add to this list: {tlhach} faction or sect.

(MO to Lieven Litaer, 10/24/2011): [Maltz] said he did know a word {Qur} that might be related, though it was difficult to translate. The best he could come up with was structure or organization. He was quick to point out that this did not mean structure like a building is a structure, nor did it mean organization like an organization of people or even an organization of states. It means the way things fit together or the arrangement of the parts of something bigger.

RELATED WORDS/PHRASES:

DIvI' Hol Federation Standard

(MO to Lieven, 3/27/2012): "Maltz said that for language names the construction "country + {Hol}" is most common (so he preferred {DoyIchlan Hol}). Of course, it doesn't have to be a "country." It could be a region or a political unit or alliance of another kind (which is why {DIvI' Hol} fits in). ... If one were to say {vulqangan Hol} ("Vulcan's language" or "Vulcans' language"), that could mean the same thing as {vulqan Hol}, so the speaker would generally not be misunderstood, but if at an intergalactic gathering a Vulcan were speaking Federation Standard, then {vulqangan Hol} for that Vulcan at that time and place would be {DIvI' Hol}. There is no such thing as *{qa'naDa' Hol}, but {qa'naDa'ngan Hol} might refer to {DIvI' Hol} or {vIraS Hol} (or Cree or Inuit or many other languages)."

  DIvI' Hol Dajatlh'a'
Do you speak Federation Standard? CK

DaH DIvI' Hol vIjatlhchoH. 'oy' HughwIj.
(Vincent Van Gerven Oei's speech at qepHom wa'maHDIch]

DIvI' 'ejDo' USS [Federation registry] (lit "Federation starship"):

tera' vatlh DIS poH cha'maH loS bong QongmeH qItI'nga' Duj tI'ang
   ghompu' DIvI' 'ejDo' 'entepray'

in the 24th century by the USS Enterprise. S15

  DIvI' 'ejDo' 'entepray'Daq Dajollu'
Get beamed aboard the USS Enterprise. STX
