Cf. TKW 33 it is first in noun-noun pair. If the noun following {Hoch} is explicitly plural, it means "all" or "every"; if it is singular, it means "each". [HQ 5.2]

"There are exactly two places that I can think of in Klingon grammar where the plural-marker suffixes are not completely optional: ... When using {Hoch} before a noun, a singular noun implies the meaning "each," and a plural noun implies the meaning "every." This information was revealed by Okrand rather recently." [ghunchu'wI' (date?)]

"The only case we know when it matters whether or not there is actually a plural suffix on a word that is obviously plural from context, is with a construction with {Hoch}. {Hoch tlhIngan} means ‘every Klingon’ and {Hoch tlhInganpu'} means ‘all the Klingons’." [Qov (date?)]

I’m just curious if this is a consensus or something that has any canon behind it. I would have thought that {jaj naQ} made sense as “an entire day”. {jaj Hoch} makes equally good sense, so I’m not challenging this as a perfectly fine option.

I would have thought that “a day, which is whole” would be more like {naQbogh jaj}.

Not trying to start trouble. I’m honestly seeking clarity. I know that I miss a lot of canon, and I don’t stay up on things as I’m sure I should.

Use {jaj Hoch} instead of {jaj naQ}. {jaj naQ} means "day which is whole." What is a day that is not whole? An incomplete day? Perhaps a day with an eclipse?

Using {Hoch} after a noun means "all of <noun>."
