I’ll let the BG discuss this, but while we’re waiting here are some examples with both {-Daq} and prounoun+{-taH}:

pa'Daq jIHtaH
I'm in the room.  TKD
[TKD 27: jIH I is used in the sense of I am (see section 6.3),
          so in is the most reasonable translation of -Daq."]

pa'wIjDaq jIHtaH
I am in my quarters. TKD

pa'DajDaq ghaHtaH la''e'
The commander is in his quarters.
As for the commander, he is in his quarters. TKD

qIrq.  DujHomDaq ghaHtaH.
Kirk. He's on the shuttlecraft! ST5

bIghHa'Daq ghaHtaH qama''e'
The prisoner is in the prison. KGT

bIQ'a'Daq 'oHtaH 'etlh'e'
The sword is in the ocean.

meyrI'Daq 'oHtaH gho'e'
The circle is in the square. [qep'a' 2005]

loS... qIb HeHDaq, 'u' SepmeyDaq Sovbe'lu'bogh lenglu'meH
 He ghoSlu'bogh retlhDaq 'oHtaH
It [i.e. DS9] waits... on the edge of the galaxy, beside a
 passage to unknown regions of the universe. S99

qepHomDaq jIHtaHbe'.  Saghal.
[untranslated] (MO qepHOM 2013 greetings)

It may be more style than grammar, but it seems you don’t add {-taH} to the pronoun following {nuqDaq}:

nuqDaq 'oH Qe' QaQ'e'
Where is a good restaurant? TKD

nuqDaq 'oH puchpa''e'
Where is the bathroom? TKD

nuqDaq 'oH jengva''e'
Where is the plate? KGT

nuqDaq 'oH ngop'e'
Where are the plates? KGT

nuqDaq bIH
[Where are they? (untranslated)] (ST6)

nuqDaq 'oH bIQ'a' HeH'e'
Where is the beach? TNK

nuqDaq 'oH beylI''e'
Where is the bank? TNK

nuqDaq bIH leng buqmey'e'
Where are the suitcases? TNK

nuqDaq ghaH ngevwI''e'
Where is the shop? TNK

nuqDaq ghaH petaQ'e'
Where is the *p'takh* [...]" PB

Are there any more examples in the paq’batlh? (I don’t have a copy.)

I am a little confused on the matter of the interaction between -Daq and pronouns with -taH.

I think, from responses to my sentence exercises, that {Saj nujDaq bIHtaH} is preferred over {Saj nujDaq bIH}. So I would say {DujDaq jIHtaH} and {HuDDaq chaHtaH} etc. That's easy enough.

The confusion comes from a sentence I learned before I even joined the list, and a subject line soon after. They weren't confusing then, but now in light of this -taH rule I'm a bit confused. The sentences were {nuqDaq 'oH puchpa''e'?} and {nuqDaq ghaH 'arHa'e'?}

So which is correct:
{nuqDaq SoH?}
or
{nuqDaq SoHtaH?}
?

And which of these is correct:
{DujDaq 'oH De'wI''e'.}
or
{DujDaq 'oHtaH De'wI''e'.}
?

Thanks,
-QISta'
