[Tlhingan-hol] ngab wa' rep

That's useful. I was having a conversation recently about translating the
English "We've lost shields" into Klingon. <botjan wIchIlpu'> didn't seem
right. It's not like we've left than at a party or dropped them down the
storm drain. I favoured <lujpu' botjan> or <loj botjan>. It was interesting
to note that while chIl and luj can both be translated "lose"
(<bIlujlaHbe'chugh bIQaplaHbe'>) the shields would be the object of chIl and
the subject of luj.

I still like luj and loj better than ngab to describe the loss of shields.
But we do say we've "lost an hour" so for anyone cataloguing possible
translations, there you have it. Another reason while Bing will never
replace us.

(A Bing iteration I trained last night translated vaj HatlhDaq He tIqDaq
jIleng as "so I roamed in the heart of the way in the wilderness." I think
that's as good as it's going to get, because it takes human knowledge of the
nature of ways and wilderness to realize that He tIq is much more likely to
be a "long route" than "the route's heart.")

ngemDaq He tIqDaq jIleng 'ej tIqDaj mu'ang ngem. 'Iw bIQtIq jIjaH 'ej tIqDaq
mu'ang je bIQtIq.
