The course in my sig uses and forces you to use all the level one vocabulary.  It pairs well with Memrise, although I don’t know if someone has made a deck that  introduces the words in the same order as the course. Free Klingon help to the first person to do that. (Free Klingon help to everyone who takes the course, but especially grateful free Klingon help to people who help me improve the course). The level two course isn’t going to be ready when I said it would be, but I’m working on it.

Thank you for these tips! I am a Memrise user, and am currently doing a course based on TKD, but it's not completely accurate - it claims that "only" (yes, the English word "only") is Klingon for "about(v)", and a couple other things that make me think it was made by a computer program and then not proofread. I'll definitely look at that course you mentioned! And then if I ever have the means to go to qap'a', I can get my certification (not to mention the event t-shirt), and my friends will be sooooo impressed, lol! 

And I agree that learning vocabulary for things that interest you is more effective than learning lists of words for things you don't care about. I care about learning languages, so "Hol" and "ghoj" stick in my mind, but "begh" has to be learned by rote, as I don't think much about deflectors. And, as I've mentioned before, I've never even watched Star Trek, so I don't have any familiar movie lines to help me remember.

I don't think my family will stand for me labeling everything in the house; they have a strong dislike for all "made-up languages" :'-(. They already look down on me for speaking Esperanto, Lojban, and Toki Pona, and that pains me deeply, but I can't stop, I just can't! And how can they look down on me because my languages "aren't useful", when they don't bother to learn *any* other languages?? But... my rant/sob-story is off-topic. Sorry about that.

qunnoQ has described a good strategy for learning Klingon vocabulary,
something which I myself have always had trouble with.

Maybe what he says will work well for you, QISta', or anyone, and maybe it
won't. Try lots of strategies and see what works for you! Part of studying
a language -- especially when you aren't taking a class in person, and
don't have fluent speakers nearby -- is to try and make the language a part
of your everyday life. qunnoQ does this by glancing in a vocabulary book
throughout the day; Qov and others have described labeling everything in
their house with Klingon vocabulary words; and I try to do flashcards as
often as possible, and am (obviously) trying to participate in this list a
lot more!

QISta', you may find it helpful to know that there is a list of "beginner's
words" that make up the vocab for the first Klingon Language Certification
Program. It is a great place to start for learning vocab! (Your mileage may
vary. It isn't exactly a list of "simple" or "common" words, but it does
include many of those.)

Klingonska.org has a vocabulary "extraction" and flash card program that is
SUPER helpful when you want to learn vocabulary that is specifically from a
certain text: http://klingonska.org/glossary/#input

You may also try to learn vocabulary for subjects that interest you and
that you'd like to write about, since this may help you maintain your
interest. I work at an art museum and once sat down and learned as much of
the vocabulary as I could to talk about art and my job, and since then I've
been able to use and remember most of it!
