I believe you just found the weak point of klingon learners and the main 
problem of them struggling with aspect suffixes: Most of us confuse 
aspect with past tense, because these are translated with the same 
words: If you "have completed" something, then it must have happened in 
the past.

Even after reading the wikipedia page onj aspect, it looks like a tense 
form, so it really IS confusing for linguistic beginners.

But as a note for beginners: don't lose yourself in trying to find the 
true meaning of it. Just learn te language, there are many easy parts 
you can use to speak basic klingon.
