For some reason the archive doesn't have the exact email, but this one
contains the post SuStel made. Since he was the only one to come up with a
description for the individual word, and no one seemed to object per se,
and Qov used it as this general meaning in a chapter of her story, I used
it as the "closest thing we have" instead of just leaving it out of the
dictionary:

I guess, in my mind, "tape (not the sticky kind)" covered the "recording
medium" meaning you suggested in a follow up email. I'll add
that definition in as well to clarify it more.
