>From the Bird-of-Prey poster:

{wejvatlh SochmaH vagh SaD cheb'a'mey ngI' Duj}
  Mass: 8.7KT

So 375 000 cheb'a'mey ≈ 8.7 KT = 8 700 000 kg
-> 375 cheb'a'mey ≈ 8 700 kg
-> 1 cheb'a' ≈ 24.8571429 kg

Also, according to an old Newsgroup post ( http://klingonska.org/canon/search/?file=1997-10-22-news.txt&get=source ):
> A common unit of weight is <cheb>, which is around five pounds (2.25 kg
> or so).

Taking our previous calculation and dividing by 2.25 (kg/cheb), we find that a cheb'a' is roughly 11 chebmey.

However, it's worth noting that the measurement 8.7 KT is probably a gross approximation, so the figure 1 cheb'a' ≈ 24.8571429 kg is probably far from exact.

Going by those figures, however, it appears that a cheb'a' cannot be exactly 9 chebmey, for if we by comparison with 1 'uj'a' = 9 'ujmey assume that 1 cheb'a' = 9 chebmey, we find:

375 000 cheb'a'mey = 3 375 000 chebmey

3 375 000 cheb * 2.5 (kg/cheb) = 8.4375 KT

...meaning that even if we assume a cheb is closer to 2.5 kg than 2.25 kg (which seems unlikely), 8.7 KT would be a very strange figure to put on the poster.

If, on the other hand, we assume that one cheb'a' is 10 'ujmey, we can get it to mix perfectly.
For example, if a cheb is exactly 2.32 kg (which would make 2.25 kg a decent approximation), 375 000 * 10 chebmey would be EXACTLY 8.7 kilotons.
More accurately, we should expect a cheb to be somewhere within the range of 8650/3750 kg and 8750/3750 kg; that is, roughly between 2.3066666... kg and 2.3333333...

[I specify this range because if it were lower than 2.306666... then 8.6 KT would have been a better approximation, and if if were over 2.333333... then 8.8 KT would have been a better approximation.]

Note that even at the top of this range (1 cheb = 2.333.... kg), 2.25 kg/cheb is a better approximation than 2.5 kg/cheb, thus conforming to our knowledge.

*sits back and waits for the errors he's probably made to be pointed out*
