[4] I feel this is kind of a cheat because the English-like mnemonic 
will trigger recognition, but it still works, doesn't it? I imagine 
that doing the spacesuit work is one of those things that the rookie 
thinks is cool, but is really miserable scut work the captain is only 
too happy to visit on the junior officer, even when he isn't hiding a 
broken arm.

Me: If there were a force field that only permitted objects to pass 
one way, and you put a tube into it, could you then suck objects out 
through the tube?

Him: [immediately, without pause for thought] If the tube were made 
of adamantium, titanium or aluminum, yes, but if it were made of 
plastic or bone, no. It has to be superconducting or nearly 
superconducting to maintain a hole in the force field. If it were 
made of lead or stone and it were really thick it would offer 
resistance, but it could still get through.
