While it’s true that Paramount was not excited about the liability issues of fans swiping at each other with long, pointy things, it’s also true that companies like this aggressively assert their copyrights, even in small cases, because any instance in which they don’t becomes precedent that others can use to slippery-slope their way into blatant copyright violation without legal recourse.
