> Part of speech: noun
> Definition: type of knife (general purpose)
KGT 97: A general, all-purpose knife that seems capable to be able to cut through practically anything is a {'aqnaw}.
PUN:
"Act now..." (catch phrase on US infomercials: "Act now and you also will receive..." often a knife which is demonstrated cutting through everything from rotten tomatoes to bricks.)
An "all-purpose (general purpose) knife" would be *{lo' law' taj}. See the model phrases on the Bird-of-Pey Poster:
cha' choQmey naQ tu'lu' 'ej tep choQ bIngDaq lo' law' bID choQ tu'lu'
2 Full Decks and a Half Utility Deck under the Cargo Deck. (KBoP)
lo' law' lojmIt
utility hatch (KBoP)
Various types of Klingon knives include: taj, Daqtagh, ghonDoq, Haqtaj, may' taj, naH taj, qutluch, QIS, SIjwI', etc.
Use {'etlh} for "blade" in general:
KGT 60f.: The word {'etlh} is used for sword in general, but it really means blade of any kind. The {'etlh}, then, is a component of a knife and could be part of a spear as well. ... A {'etlh}, even if primarily a weapon, may be used in other activities as well, such as hunting and even sculpting. Indeed, to restrict the use of a {'etlh} to combat is to minimize the flexibility of its design.
Use {tajHom} for the "side blades" of a *d'k tahg*:
ghop luQan tajHommey. pe'laH je.
[the blades] providing both a hand guard and another set of
cutting edges. (SP2)
