Earth in the beginning of the 21st century doesn’t have any force fields, and perhaps our fictional future sees them differently than our current selves do. The force field is something with physical properties similar to sold matter if you run into one. That said, it’s odd to use the word for “disappear” for a thing that is invisible, and being so, has no appearance.
