 jevqu'taHvIS muD ral, bejlI' parmaq.
 While the violent atmosphere storms, love still watches. (Sonnet 116)

 Qombe'! nISbe' jevwI', 'ej not ruS baq.
 That looks on tempests and is never shaken. (Sonnet 116)

At the Farpoint Convention (October, 2000), Marc Okrand told Krankor that {jev} "is a weather term" meaning "be rainy, windy, thundering" and is used similarly to {SIS} "rain". DloraH reported a conversation he had with Okrand in May, 1998:

 It rained a few times during the weekend, so we were put into
 the situation to discuss it. {SIS. SISqu'. SIStaH. SISchoH.}
 All correct. {SISlu'}, although grammatically correct, he didn't
 particularly like ... You can also give it an object and say
 things like the clouds rained down cats and dogs... or something
 like that; you get the idea. But when Marc and I went outside
 and drops of water were falling on us, he looked up and simply
 said "{SIS.}"

{SIS} was used in the paq'batlh:

 ghIq QavwI'chaj DuQchu' qeylIS betleH chaHDaq SIStaHvIS negh 'Iw
 Then Kahless's *bat'leth* pierced the last of them, showered with
 the soldiers' blood. (PB 136-37)

HQ 12.4 p.: The word for "breath" is {tlhuH}, and that for "breathe" is also {tlhuH}. To breathe in, or inhale, is {pur}; to breathe out, or exhale, is {rech}. To breathe noisily, or wheeze, is {jev}. (This is also the verb "storm", though Maltz couldn't decide whether this was meaningful or just a coincidence.) To breathe even more noisily, or snore, is {wuD}.
