Adjectival use of stative verbs is not on the beginner syllabus.
The story is pretty weird, so non-knowledge of the restaurant is the least of the unexplained problems. I never, for example explain why he thinks the hideous chair is a ship.

How about an adjective? {Qe' QaQ vISov} or something? That makes it less weird because, while the guy might know of its existence, he might not know about its quality.
