Can he put a large pIqaD character in the center and small roman letter(s) on one of the corners?  That way it would look "authentic" but those of us who don't read pIqaD could still use it.

I'd take one.  And if it's just a custom set for us, I vote for pIqaD only.  But if he plans to continue production and hopes to sell to others, I'd recommend both pIqaD and roman.
