[Tlhingan-hol] Klingon Word of the Day: pon

I believe the only canonical use of this word is on page 145 of paq'batlh (paq'raD, Canto 16, Stanza 1):

wejlogh choponlaHbe'chugh
vaj ghobvam vItap
'ej DaH naDev qaHoH

Give me three good reasons
Not to squeeze this hand tight
And kill you were you stand! {{[sic] were = "where"}}

Quite an interesting translation, if you ask me: Many of us would probably have tried some sort of sentence involving {wej meq[mey]}, but I rather like this way of putting it.

This may indicate that the object of {pon} is the one who is convinced, though I'd personally guess that this is an instance of the prefix trick, and the direct object is in fact the statement of which one convinces somebody.
