[Tlhingan-hol] Klingon Bird-of-Prey Haynes Manual

How I understand it:

Somebody (Okrand himself doesn't know who) translated and transcribed everything.
MO and several qep'a' attendees looked over the chapter headings, corrected out-and-out errors and came with new suggestions (which I presume were then coneyed to MO).
Marc commented, however, that most of the translations were already very good and needed no changes.

I wonder if they also looked over any of the stuff within the text ofthe book. There's one proper mu' chu' in there, and also some metals that are not written in Okrandian romanized tlhIngan Hol.

I'm wondering if the Klingon in the book is functional, or simply
decorative.

If it's "real" Klingon, was anyone on the list involved with it?

I actually have an email draft about this sitting in my drafts folder, which I hadn't sent yet because of the "30 day moratorium" on new canon. Amazon shows a "publication date" of Oct. 24 and a "release date" of Nov. 6, so we are supposed to wait about another week before discussing it.

I'll answer your question without saying anything about the actual words of the content. Yes, it's *mostly* real Klingon, with a very straightforward mapping between the Okrandian transcription and the {pIqaDqoq} used in the book.

I'll go a little bit further and say that it's a gorgeous book with a stylistic and beautiful script for {pIqaD}, so if you're a Klingonist I'd recommend picking one up. I bought one off Lieven at the qepHom last month (thanks, Lieven!).

Like you, I have similar questions for the list: What was Marc Okrand's involvement in this and what was the KLI's (they are both credited)? Should the uses and definitions of Klingon terms and Klingon sentences found in this book be considered as coming from Okrand (i.e., like the Bird-of-Prey poster), or are they from KLI members?
