In discussing geometry, I believe most mathematicians would refer to qungmey as holes, and to QemjIqmey (which would not be considered holes at all) would be depressions. However, referring to the soundhole of a guitar as a depression would probably not sit right with many, wherefore cavity seems a good word. However, I'm not sure if that word could perhaps also be used to describe some qungmey.

"Perforation" is the best I can think of for qung; the anatomical term "foramen" also works, but it's a bit esoteric.
