My daughter is 5, she starts Kindergarten in 7 days.
She's still, for the most part, illiterate.

But from time to time, she has me write down words, and she copies
them for her own use.
She also knows how to type said words.
(She learned how to type her name before she learned how to write it on paper.)

Earlier this evening, she asked me to write down the word "Klingon" in
Klingon letters.
(As opposed to what she calls "normal letters")

So, in my best pIqaD handwriting,
(a sample can be seen here:

)
I wrote {tlhIngan}.

She then took my phone, and on a soft/virtual pIqaD keyboard, slowly
typed out the word.

She was /so/ proud of herself for figuring it out.

I was also very proud as I didn't expect her to be able to close the
gap between my writing and the perfectly formed font on the keys.

The app happened to have a "send" icon, and she said that she wanted
to send her message to someone who would be able to read it.

I asked her who she wanted to send it to, and she replied "Send it to qurgh!".

She then asked how to write that she wanted a reply back; as she was
supposed to be in bed, and this was all just a delay tactic, I told
her that I would take care of it.

Long story short, my 5yo can read my Klingon handwriting.
